  • 3 Tbsp (45 mL) canola oil
  • 7 cups (1.75 L) cooked whole red (brown) lentils
  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL) minced garlic
  • 3 Tbsp (45 mL) chili crisp
  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL) low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) sugar

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a large sauté pan over medium to high heat. Add lentils in a single layer.
  2. Let the lentils sit to lightly crisp, approximately 3–4 minutes. Toss.
  3. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, approximately 2-3 minutes.
  4. Remove lentils from pan and into a large mixing bowl. Toss with chili crisp, soy sauce, vinegar, and sugar.

Add this protein topper to salads, bowls, rice or other grains, and more to add a flavor-packed protein punch.
